I have a 85 Regal with 454 Chevy. The compressor was mounted on the left top of engine with no brace on the rear of the compressor. A mechanic told me there is no way to brace the rear of the unit so it moves and have had to replace water pump and fan clutch. We just left the compressor off until it can be installed properly. Where does it belong on that engine top or bottom. 85' Barth Regal 28' 454 Chevy

Does your AC compressor have two grooves, with only 1 used, as shown in this: http://truckroadservice.com/ba..._1986_option_7N4.pdf Make sure the "GM" specified belts are used. Some current parts suppliers will cross-reference to belts of the same length but with metric widths. They won't fit in the grooves quite right. What was the water pump problem? Bearing failure? best regards, Matt 1987 Barth 27' P32 Chassis Former State Police Command Post Chevrolet 454 Weiand Manifold, Crane Cam, Gibson Exhaust
