chris1275converting engine to propane ?
i saw that this reduces fuel cost's by about half anyone know if this is true and how much a conversion would cost?I was told many city's are converting there buses wonder what temp disel, gas,or propane would burn at in the engine i think this would determine ''safe'' use.any rocket scientist's retired in a barth ?

MWrenchI am not sure what this all means but many municipalities are selling off their propane powered buses. As far as cost goes? You will not get the same millage as with gas/diesel and the price per gallons is over $3.00 gal in many areas.
If I could find a compact quiet diesel generator I would replace my propane powered generator in a heartbeat!
Safety? Another issue!

Gary CarterPOWER TECH has a small diesel that fits under a sprinter chassis. About 4kw I believe.

w&bknockeThe cost to convert would be recovered in the first 150000 miles on an over the road truck. Also finding a LNG station can be problematic

Gary CarterThe problem with converting to propane is that normally only a fuel conversion is done. If you rebuild your engine to take full advantage of propane you will see great results.
Minneapolis-Moline farm tractors offered the same tractor with gas, diesel and propane. The propane engine would outpull on less fuel than either the gas or diesel.
Propane has a octane of over 130 so you can go really high on the compression. The M-M had over 14-1 compression. They also had a different camshaft timing and ignition time.
So the answer is to build a propane engine, not just change fuel type.
