Uh oh! Dave suffers from "Kohler-envy". With the Kohler, I could run both roof airs, the vacuum, a TV set, the fridge and using my M-M extension cord, I could power the entire house while we used all four stove-top elements on our electric range and 5-ton AC unit. If the cord had been long enough we probably could have run the neighbor's house too. Well, maybe not his whole house. :-) [This message has been edited by ron (edited September 03, 2004).]

Previous owner waxed eloquent about how Kohlers were better than Onans. Any truth in that? Anyone know why some had Kohlers and some Onans? I have always thought my Kohler was noisier and clankier than Onans, but the sound meter says it is about the same. As soon as I get some time, I will install the Honda water cooled 6K that is taking up space in the garage. With that and extensive soundproofing and an up-pipe, I expect real quietness.

Kohler tip: If your muffler hits anything, the exhaust manifold will break up by the head, and is EXPENSIVE to replace. Kohler has the parts numbers wrong. Also hard to weld well. If I were going to keep my Kohler, I would make flex stainless connectors to a higher mounted muffler. Or just don't boondock.

I am sorry I thought everyone knew that Kohler is one of the largest if not the largest manufacturer of toilets and other bathroom fixtures. http://www.us.kohler.com/onlinecatalog/product_search.jsp?module=Toilets&frm=1 I if you ever go to Kohler, WI you have to visit the Great Wall of China I am also sorry that I didn't respond sooner. We left for a trip right after leaving the post. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I also didn't mean to comment on whether a Kohler or Onan is better. From the folks I talk to I think I would rather have an Onan than a Kohler LP on a Breakaway. But Breakaways are Diesel coachs and I think the addition of a diesel genset would increase the price on the unit too much. Just a guess. The point I was making was that I found that my generator has run much better after I had a prefessional tune-up performed by the manufactures own service guys. ------------------ [This message has been edited by davebowers (edited September 06, 2004).] [This message has been edited by davebowers (edited September 06, 2004).]
