I agree. lived by Midway and worked on the loop for 3 mo. during the 80's. hated the traffic. I run 60-65 most the time. 60 on the 2 lane. Drivers in California think 80 is just a suggestion as they pass you at 90 -95.

Dan we are all driving 5,10,15 TON bricks. Well except Duane driving his “ Nose” which is a little more streamlined. You are the only one who knows what speed you are comfortable.

Mileage is probably better at 55/60. I love speed if it isn’t endangering anyone but me and the wife (she knew what she was getting when she married me! If she complained and grabbed on to the hand grip often my response was down in the ditch for a little ride.). Of course I knew those roads and ditches like I know my way to the bathroom.

Would I do that today. Sure on my home turf. Would I do it with my Barth? Not a chance.

Our rigs if properly cared for and aligned are able to be steered with one finger. I am encouraging Lynn to drive in case I ever am incapacitated. I will often drive extended periods with only one tip of one finger on the wheel to prove it. Lynn doesn’t get physics. In her mind she has to move 30,000 pounds. In actuality she only has to move the steering wheel with as little force as necessary. (One finger) braking is a different matter.

In the immortal words of Clint Eastwood “A mans got to know his limitations”. I won’t try to limit your and I already know mine.

Sorry for the ramble. Protecting us from ourselves has gotten tiresome.

I can't resist adding to the thread drift. In our country, freedom exists only if people honor the laws of the country, the state, and even the city we live in. If we choose which laws we will obey and ignore the others, we will lose freedom. Then, when others break the laws, whatever ones they break, how can we judge them?
Judges 21:25. "In those days, Israel had no king and everyone did what was right in his own eyes"

Speed may kill, but car horns were standard equipment before speedometers. Initial speed laws were imposed because the engine noise scared the horses. Ok so I joke a bit!!!

As an aging hippie type, I remember the 60's (some of it anyway) and it was well known that SPEED KILLS! nono

But the question is: What do methamphetamines have to do with Duane's coach work? hmm ROTFLMAO

Oh, now I get it.... that's how he gets so much done on it and why he likes to drive 100mph! Thumbs Up confusion

Hey, I'm no judge, it works for me! Tooling Along Cool

Ahhh.. the 60's, 16 to 26 what a time, went from a drivers license to the Air Force, twin children. a college education, and then to work! Drank a lot of beer in the service, changed to Crown Royal in college, started to fly and quit drinking alcohol all together, they could not figure out if you could drink in 8 hours or 24 if you wanted to fly changed the law seemed like weekly. As a child of that era, never did a drug not even MaryJane.. Wonder if todays philosophies' were applied then what state the country be in today!!!

Well, speaking of which, I regret to inform you that you are being reprimanded for your politically insensitive thread title:

"Anti-sway bars" could be associated with certain homophobic drinking establishments.... perhaps a reference to "suspension components" would be in order. nono

Don't feel bad, others have been cited for references to "drag links". We are doing our best to stay out of trouble! ROTFLMAO

You can't be too careful, the Search Engines are everywhere! confusion
