first things first: Cummins 400 hp M11 engine background: I have been blocked from my normal summer travels by a severe back problem. Barth has been sitting, moved 50 feet once, for about 10 months. Being more well, I decided to check her readability, at least enough to safely go to town for a full service. Everything looks ready to roll except an air hiss in front. An air hiss I have heard before. I do not think it is normal. Or maybe it is... The problem: There is a metal "tank" the size of soft ball, with two air hoses emerging from the bottom. They slip into a hole, not onto a stub connection. There appears to be some entrapment mechanism inside the hole that normally catches the hoses. The hiss is caused by one of thee hoses not staying in the hole, even if I push it back in, until some pressure is bleed off, and then it will stay in the hole. oh wise ones: What is this mechanism, what does it do, why is it bleeding air? Is it air overpressure? Or a bleed for some other reason? How do I get the hose to stay permanently, perhaps replace with a new hose? need more info? email me please. Thank you vury, vury mush!

What you are seeing is the vacuum canister the hose you are trying to reattach is coming from a venturi vacuum generator which is probably shot. Ok, I am aware of nothing on my Barth the requires vacuum. So could I simply plug the air leaks and move on?

You need vacuum to operate your dash heater and ac. On gassers you also might need it for cruise control. 1993 32' Regency Wide Body, 4 speed Allison Trans, Front Entry door, Diamond Plate aluminum roof & 1981 Euro 22' w Chevy 350 engine and TH 400 tranny

The only thing I need it for is the heater controls. I need heated air to defrost the windows in Minnesnowta. I took the dash air completely out. My cruise is electronic. I had to have the vent controls working Dana & Lynn 1997 38ft Monarch front entry Spartan Mountain Master Chassis Cummins 8.3 325hp Allison MD-3060 6 speed 22.5 11R Cummins Factory Exhaust Brake 8000 watt Quiet Diesel Generator 9608-M0022-38MI-4C Christened Midnight 1972 22ft 72081169MC22C Christened Camp Barth

I have two vacuum generators. One in the engine compartment for the cruise control and the second up front to operate the heater controls. Both work just fine. '92 Barth Breakaway - 30' 5.9 Cummins (6B) 300+ HP 2000 Allison Front entrance
