Need help from the Onan experts. Yesterday fired up the generator (Onan 6.5 gas) and before the generator got up to speed my brother-in-law turned on the air conditioner. Generator stalled and now won't start. Generator turns over with start switch pressed, but as soon as start switch is released, generator stops. I do not have a service manual on this generator, plan on ordering one tomorrow. At the moment, from all I have read, I am leaning towards the voltage regulator - but am unsure til I get the service manual.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dennis

Doubt this is of any help but..
I have a Kohler that will do the same thing if the cranking reset has popped. If you have a reset try that. It will probably be on the control box above the generator.
Good luck,
Tim

Dennis,
I'm betting that you either burned out the Bridge Diode and/or something on the green control board. Hopefully, it's just the bridge diode....... it's a cheap and easy fix. Either way, You're gonna be on a first name basis with the local Onan dealer, as they have the only parts.
Cheers, John
