I read at some time a statement about which shocks are better on a Deere chassis. A search did not show up what I wanted to find, any thoughts? My 89 has Bilsteins now, but I feel that they are in need of replacement.

Hi Jack,

I would replace them with the same Bilsteins which would be PN B46-1318. $74.75 at eshocks.com

With the stiff front ends that the Deare/Oshkosh/IH/Fords had the reports I hear is that the Bilsteins are a very good choice.

By the way Jack, don't take my word but I think that 1988 was the last year that Deere built an RV chassis, so even though you have a 1989 Barth I think you have a 1988 chassis. This is not uncommon at all and you should not feel cheated. It is less common today because of the large volumes of coaches sold, the chance of chassis inventory hanging over is slim.

Thanks for the input Dave.
Ah, but I don’t feel cheated at all, I am very glad I have the Deere chassis, works for me, and we must remember that Barth Custom Coaches aren’t built in a day.
The 32-foot Deere chassis was made in October of 1988 and Barth completed the build on Valentines Day in 1989. Guess that’s where the love affair with my Barth started.

Plus you have to love the basement storage that my P-30 ain't got. However, there were some P-30 basement models Bill H has one.
