Assuming it is a 454??? Duno why but, assuming it is, you will need t remove the torque converter cover, the starter, the braces between the engine and trans, if so equipped, the engine mount bolts, maybe the fan shroud?? and then using a floor jack, lift the front of the engine as high as you possibly can to get it to come out. I usually use a 4x4 from the jack to the harmonic balancer/front pulley. You may even need to remove the oil pump pick-up tube if it does not clear. When reassembling, if it had a gasket, use FelPro gaskets to reassemble, anything but cork, if it used RTV then reuse RTV. Why are you doing this again????

The pan is becoming porious and oil is weeping through it. It's the only item except for the step that's rusted that way.

I love the Barths but I can't tell the difference between models. R&R the oil sump should be a piece of cake then.

Well, the job is done. It required removing the rear engine mounts jacking up the rear of the engine about two inches and then lowering the rear cross member about an inch, all to clear the sump tube. Time required; 5 hours. Moral; keep the exterior of the pan real clean, wire brush and repaint as necessary. cheers

PS; all this in prep. for a trip to Lake Powell departing 09/15/11.
