Any suggestions about how to dislodge a BIG rock from between dual rear tires? My saga: Received my MH one week ago. Planned a short trip this weekend for a lirtle shakedown. Worked all week to stock and prepare for the trip. Then, as I was leaving my driveway on Friday afternoon, I got a BIG rock wedged between my dual rear tires, really tight! I let most of the air out of one rear tire, still wedged too tight. I drove about 2 miles at 15 mph and below, still didn't dislodge. (I don't want that rock to go theu the floor of the RV!) I called the only two road service guys in the fleabit town that I live near - can do nothing till Monday. Called a willing service about 50 miles away, they wanted $50/hour + $2.70/mi. Guess I am stuck in my driveway until the local tire road service smucks decide that they want to fix the problem.

A couple of tricks i have used to get rocks out of duels is to wrap a chain around it and hook the other end to something solid and slowly drive ahead to put pressure on it. The angle of the chain when it is pulling can make a big difference on getting it out. Another way is to take a 2x4 or a bar and stick it in so one end is resting on the ground and the other is in between the wheels with the rock just above the bar. slowly back up or go forward so that the rock is forced down against the bar. If it does not come out fairly easy using either method let more air out of both tires. You don't want to rip up your tires so having to put air back in is a minor hassle compared to having to replace them. Where abouts in Az are you?

I do not have a jack to handle this rig. But perhaps I could put the rock at top. deflate both tires on the ground, then try to dislodge it. Think that would work? Any risk to the tires this way? My little electric tire pump might put enough air back in that I could limp to a service station for air. If not, I just call the road service on Monday, which I have to do anyway the way it currently stands.

I would pull the out side tire off and the rock would fall out. Maybe someone has a jack big enough to handle the coach. Dennis

I know when we were Ryder dealers we would put rock location on bottom or pavement, hose down the tire, and rock with soap and water then took a 2X4 and large hammer and drove towards front, and at a slight downward angle. Do not use WD40 unless you clean off. Too if we could see that the rock was pointed front or rear when on bottom we would drive pointed portion back as to not wedge in even more. Water helps a lot. Good Luck.
