does anyone know where the house batteries are on a 78-79 barth?

Hi Hempie,
My '79 had the house batteries under the entrance step. There was a trap door that lifted up with the carpet attached.

hempie, my house batts are under the floor inside the door too. Here's a little diagram showing how they're wired in.

Thank you that is a big help. Just got the Barth a week ago.It has been setting for a year got her running trying to go through everything so we can hit the road this summer.I know I'll have a lot more questions.Very helpful site!

With a new purchase, it is good to get acquainted underneath. Slide around on your creeper and look things over. Follow the heavy cable from the genset and it will go to the coach battery. There is also probably a relay that has one cable going to the coach battery and one to the starting battery.
