I'm not familiar with this system. Could somebody give me a quick primer on how it works? Jim

It's relatively simple(And this is the abbreviated version). It's the converse of power brakes on a car, which uses a vacuum to assist. The vacuum allows atmospheric pressure to add to pedal pressure. Air-over-hydraulic just uses air pressure (higher than atmospheric) from the engine compressor to provide the assist. You have had some problems with some kind of a pump, Rusty. Did it have anything to do with the brakes?

Yes, but my system (being slaved to a GM-based engine) is hydraulic over hydraulic, GM's abominable Hydroboost. The power steering pump also supplies pressure for brake boost.
