I weighed my Barth today. Total weight - 15,720.
Front = 3840 ... Data tag says 5000
Rear = 11,880(incl tag)... Data tag says 9840
Data tag doesn't list tag axle. GVW 14,500
This was with full fuel tank but other tanks empty and no contents loaded.

How could I be overweight with just fuel onboard?
Is the GVW supposed to be higher with the tag axle?
My first time on scale I didn't want to try and get separate weights on rear axles. What is the proper way to get weight on tag axle?

If you have the same tag axle as mine, itis a Neway TA5 style, rated 5000 lbs. There is info here on the site for the TA3 axle but no one has found any for the TA5.

The data tag does not reflect the weight with tag axle installed so it is hard to tell if we are too heavy.

I would definitely try to weigh each axle, not only for axle weight totals but to balance the load on the rear axles. Assuming all tires are the same, the drive axle should be carrying a bit less than 2/3 of the total. (4 tires vs 2 on tag. The duals are rated a little less than twice the single load)

I still have not weighed my coach but I'm still changing things, but I will get to it soon.

Your rear total does not seem excessive for the 6 tires IMHO. good luck.

Mine doesn't either. Later ones did.

Look for a data tag on the passenger side tag swingarm. It should have the capacity.

Coach 8906, a 33 footer, shows on the build tag a
gvwr of "14,500 plus 5200 tag axle"

5200 lbs is 45 psi in each bag.

My 31' non tag is right on the on the 14,500 GVW. Your tag axle should increase your GVW on your chassis by another 5000 lb. Just be aware that the Gross Combined Weight on your drive train is 19,000.

Great info, thanks, guys.
I called CAT scales to find out procedure for tag axle weighing. They said that it can be done for one fee if you ask for a split weigh. Proceed as normal with steer axle on 1st platform, then pull forward so drive axle is on 1st platform and tag axle is on 2nd platform and weigh again. Printout should show the 3 axle weights individually. No four corner weights allowed on CAT scales.
The scale I used has the 1st platform length of 15'-11". The distance from steer to middle of rear axles needs to be 16' or more. Platform lengths do vary from scale to scale. They recommend calling their toll free number to talk a cashier through the process.

When I had our's weighed with trailer a CAT done at 1 shot. 18,700 with the 3 of us on board. The 454 did a good job at getting us over the mountains.

I weighed mine one time... It came in at 18900 with myself and a child on board....that was before we loaded, fueled and filled the water tanks

It's a 35 ft Royale, 454, tag axle with gear vendors. Still gets down the road pretty good and gets 7 mpg on flatland....probably don't want to get to the mountains!!
