Everything works fine on land power but when on 12 volt I loose ceiling lights, electric steps and most of the dashboard stuff. Can't find a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Help!

It sounds like all is working when on shoreline and not on house batteries . On shoreline , the coverter/charger is supplying the 12 volts . When unplugged , the house batteries supply the voltage . Have you checked your house batteries and the main battery shut off switch for the house batteries ? I would start checking voltage at the house batteries and work my way up the system . How is the house battery? Clean the terminals check the acid. See if the battery has power when disconnected from the Barth.

Can you be more specific on dashboard stuff? What stuff quits working when you switch from shore power.

You may have the master switch turned off. '92 Barth Breakaway - 30' 5.9 Cummins (6B) 300+ HP 2000 Allison Front entrance

Perhaps someone wih a Gillig chassis can provide insight. Each line of coaches has a chassis mfr and the Barth coach on top. In each case, the chassis mfr, GM, Spartan or Gillig, installed their chassis wires and then later the Barth coach with its wiring was installed. On my Spartan chassis, the steps and dashboard are powered from the chassis but are run through the Barth wiring. The Spartan chassis has two main electrical centers, one in front and one in the rear, with circuit breakers. Some of the breakers are hot at all times, some are on a relay switched by the key. The Barth has two fuse panels, one in the front on the firewall and another, under the bed. I am not sure how the Gillig is laid out. Perhaps a fellow Regency driver an help. Obvious things to check: Is the converter charging the batteries? Are they holding a charge? If so, then there must be a bad connection somewhere. It sounds like a main power line is not being energized, perhaps a relay in the power panel. A wiring diagram would be priceless but most coaches I've seen don't have one. Good luck. Come on Regency guys, anybody have any wiring info? 9708-M0037-37MM-01 "98" Monarch 37 Spartan MM, 6 spd Allison Cummins 8.3 325+ hp

I spoke with 442john this evening. His "Dom" Domestic Battery Switch in the doorway was turned off. He had no lights either. I am not sure he if he was plugged into shore power. The are usually two of these switches. One is in in the doorway and the other is in the engine compartment. Please check your Domestic battery switches. Good luck.

House battery switch was on and tested good. House batteries were 11.8 volts so I replaced them. worked temporarily but obviously was not the only problem. While I was flipping the switch I kept hearing a noise(clicking) coming from the engine compartment. Tracked the noise to a rusty old solenoid screwed to the wall of engine compartment. Beside being very rusty it was hot to the touch. So I cleaned all the connections and all the 12 volt stuff stated to work again! My question now is what type of solenoid do I replace it with? Only a single post on the front. I probably don't want a starter solenoid?

You need to get a constant duty solenoid. Starter solenoids are intermittent duty.

Kevin is correct. Do not use a starter solenoid. They are usually only rated for intermittent use. You will want a good quality continuous duty solenoid with 80-100 amp rating. These are similar to the master relays in the electrical panel. see here: https://www.barthmobile.com/eve...433948097#1433948097 9708-M0037-37MM-01 "98" Monarch 37 Spartan MM, 6 spd Allison Cummins 8.3 325+ hp

Happy to hear you found the problem . It is a good idea to keep a spare continuous duty solenoid . They do get quite warm also . Harold Cat Sam Miniature Schnauzer 3.8.2009 - 9.24.2021 93 30ft Breakaway 9209-3823-30BS-11B KE5WCW
