I thought I read something about a water heater switch to use while travelling but can't find it now. And, I'm confused (as usual) about the different heater switches on the dash, over the the drivers window and such.
We are off on a week-long jaunt and I'd like to try to use the motoraid hot water heater function. Can someone tell me how to turn it on so we have hot water when we set up tomorrow nite.
This time I'm gonna mark these switches as I come to find out their uses!

On my Breakaway, there is an engine hot water circulator that ties into the dash heater hose. it is in parallel with the dash system so even if the dash system is shut off, hot engine coolant is circulated around a single coil that is attached to the back of the hot water heater. It takes some running time to heat the water in the hot water tank and does require that I turn on the flame after we stop if the run time is less then 4 hours.

I don't have a switch, it is there anytime the engine is running.

Mine is similiar; in addition there are valves to shut off the flow to the water heater coils.

My experience about run time is about the same.

We also have a engine heat coil thru the hot water heater. A side bar on this is that when parked you may find that the water heater is trying to heat the engine. Found this our on a prior coach. Have not checked this one yet.

Our water heater is under the removable floor of the hall closet. It has the usual plastic water lines in and out and there is a shut off on one of them. There are also two black heater hoses entering/exiting from the back of the heater. Motoraid heat I guess? No shutoff valve tho. I will see if we have warm water after we get to the lake tomorrow.

My cutoff (standard globe valves) are accessed from underneath (meaning lying on one's back on the ground). The water heater is under the couch.

To be a True Barth Owner, you must be able to draw - from memory - a diagram of everything as seen lying on your back under the coach. Big Grin
