Hi ya all. Just joined today. Don't own one yet, but considering one down the road (pun intended). What does this VIN breakdown to,
S(5?)78082494MC21-FP1? It's a 1978 with a Chevy small block. Is there a VIN translator here somewhere? On consignment for $15k, priced way too high, but ya gotta start somewhere, right? I also own 2 84 VW Westfalias, and a 1965 Ford Mustang convertible, so I ain't afraid of fixing.

We are not sure about the "S". It is an S, not a 5. May have been Special Order.
7808= built August, 1978
2494= 2494th unit built by Barth
MC21= Motor Coach, 21 foot long.
FP1= Floor Plan 1

I have a 96 that has an S before the data tag no. as well. On my blueprints it says "Specialised" under the "division name" and I am almost certain that is what the S is for. Keep in mind that by the time my unit was made it was not Barth proper but Barth RSV and they may have changed the numbering system a bit....hope this helps

Kris & Tina, from working on the data tag project it appears to me the Barth RSV split the company into two divisions. Specialty Vehicles (S) and Motor Coaches (M).
