I have a set of seat belts with retractable shoulder belts. Looking back in the past posts I saw where several people had talked about installing shoulder belts, but never actually saw where anybody ever did it. I would like to use an anchor point behind each front sliding window, but without tearing out the paneling I don't know what's behind it, and if it is strong enough to support a seat belt anchor. Anybody got any ideas? I don't want to replace my seats with la
te model seats with built in shoulder belts.

Having shoulder belts woud be great. I don't feel there is solid enough mounting on Barths framing. With no steel framing to tie into I would not want to risk this modifcation. If I was to add a shoulder restraint it would have to be a two belt system. One for the lap belt, one for shoulder. This way the shoulder mounting would not be used for anchor point for the lap system.

Looks like I may be in the market for some new seats if I want shoulder belts. After probing around a little I see what you meant about not having a solid anchor point. Back to the drawing board!

No reason you couldn't run the shoulder belt over the backrest and down to the floor.

Jerry, don't give up on the seatbelt idea. My 1975 Barth has shoulder belts and I think my 1985 does also. Will take pics of 1985 tomorrow, I keep the 1975 about a hundred miles away but will see if I can get my son to take pics for me.

Thanks Rusty and Mary for the information. I have a brand new set of belts for use in a RV with a floor mounted reel that lets the belt run up through the anchor point about shoulder level. When you pull the belt across your lap it automatically pulls across your shoulder. When I looked behind the panelling on the wall it doesn't look there's anything there except an aluminum "I" beam thats only about an inch a half wide. If you could send pictures of your installation it might help me figure out how to make it work.
