Did you mic the shaft and the journals to be sure you have proper tight clearances? That's where the wear occurs and the scraping on one edge of the brass plate suggests a slight wobble in the mating of the shaft to the hole. Gillig might have replacement gears that will restore the proper sizing. It is usually more that just seals when a pump needs servicing. I have to call Gillig tomorrow to order a new booster pump and I will ask about a rebuild manual for the pump.
