I have a DANA 80 differential that is need of being rebuilt that a bad pinion. I talked to someone that alot of money could be saved by pulling the ring and pinion assembly and to take this to a shop to be rebuilt. My question is this a valid statement ? Wouldn't a shop need to have the complete axle assembly to correctly line up the axles to this ring and pinion assemly ? 92 Barth 30' breakaway 5.9 Cummins 4 speed Allison Dana 80 Basement Air

From what I understand, removal of the ring and pinion of a Dana 80 requires special tools and from what I can tell, it wouldn't be for the faint-hearted. If it were I, I'd pay the extra for the comfort of a warranty. No. Yes. If it looked like this then it would be a valid statement. But it doesn't so no. You need to remove the banjo or tow it or pay someone to go to you and do this. You don't have a "ring and pinion assembly" you have a "ring gear assembly" and a "pinion assembly". Bill N.Y.

Well I got this back today and problem was bearings kit and a loose brake caliber assembly. Ready to go now and did not cost much to get fixed. Can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. This is turning out to be a very nice motorhome but frankly I believe I want more horsepower. 92 Barth 30' breakaway 5.9 Cummins 4 speed Allison Dana 80 Basement Air
