I don't remember if I posted about my Starboard front brake caliper locking up about a month or two ago on the way up north to visit the Folks. Well, it did and I hobbled into the local Bell Tire to have it repaired. (Shame on me for being lazy and not doing the work myself but these guys are reputable and I know the owner a little from painting his hangar floor and I do work for his best friend at least twice a month). They replaced the front rotors, and wheel bearings and 750 bucks or so later, we were on vacation again. Lent the Barth to my brother for Osh Kosh Air Show last weekend and he called me on his way across Mi. and said the "front wheel fell off" Confused The mechanic who fixed it said the wheel bearing was installed improperly (probably too tight, and too little grease). Bummer that all the work I am doing to pro-actively avoid disaster is trumped by a mechanic not watching his p's and q's. I will be chatting with the manager tomorrow morning. At least Tina was'nt on board!

I had my left front caliper freeze on me last summer. Was traveling at the time.

Pulled over and with a few choice words and wd40 managed to get the calipers to move. Hate to admit I had forgotten about it. Really need to replace it and also them.

Gary, i had the same thing happen to me once on a Ford Ranger pickup. Brakes had never been touched so i just replaced all of them for the first time. Figured since i had 160,000 miles on it that it was about due. Big Grin
