got a top end oil leakage problem with my Kohler 7.5. With the metal surround and no room to work, it looks like removing genset is going to be the best way to fix the leakage. Any hints on making this project easier than it looks? Too bad its not in a slideout tray but has to drop straight down. Bob and Jan Orr Canadian Barth owners 94 30ft. If it is mounted the same way as mine was, there is no way other then raising the front up on jacks (or the levelers) and dropping straight down. I used a transmission jack under the gen set to lower and raise it. Of course all the propane and electrical connections had to be separated from on top before the lowering process began. I made ramps from 2x8s I had laying around - each step was 1.5", total of 5. That got the front up enough for the genset to clear when on my ATV jack. Then I replaced the bolts with threaded rod (one at a time) so I could lower the genset onto the jack. Tedious, but it allowed me to remove the Kohler (and replace it with a gaso Honda). I just got mine removed, repaired and reinstalled. It too is the Kohler 7.5 and is in a 97 Monarch. I had a place in Orlando do the work, but I was there "helping" through both removal and replacement. We found that removing the bumpers and center grill section gave great access and was by far the easiest way to then remove the genset out the front. Of course, the repair place had a fork lift to make life easier, but you could drop it down and then simply back up the rig away from it. BTW, it's very heavy! I was very intrigued by the thought of installing a slide, but that would have required a lot of engineering and cutting up my precious stainless twin bumpers. I decided not to and figured it is rare to actually need to go to this extreme, hope I'm right! I disconnected the electrical connections. Then, I used my levelers, jacked up the genset with a floor jack, undid the front bracket bolts, removed the front bracket. Then I undid the rear bolts and carefully lowered the genset to a couple of 2x8's on each side of the jack. Good luck.
