my first try at uploading a pix from photobucket..this is a pix of my connector...does this look like a R134A fitting?...if so, it is larger than the one on my Honda car and I can only find the one (hi or low? The connectors that we need to see will be at or around the compressor, and there should be two of them fairly close together. HTH Ed 94 30' Breakaway #3864 30-BS-6B side entry New Cummins 5.9L, 375+ HP Allison 6 speed Spartan chassis K9DVC Tankless water heater

That actually looks like a defunct Hi-Lo pressure switch, which needs replacement. On my '94 Breakaway, the low pressure fitting is on the passenger side of the generator door, up and only a couple of inches from the front sheetmetal, and about 8" in from the door frame. The high pressure fitting is close to the receiver-dryer. The low should have a black or blue cap, the high, red. I would certainly replace the receiver dryer in yours, as it looks as though it's been in awhile, and if the system has lost refrigerant, it's always a good idea to replace it anyway. Here are some more pix of my ac system..I cannot locate the connectors mentioned either in the front gen compartment or back near the compressor. 1 hose from drier goes to rear and other up to bulkhead. 2 hoses off compressor head forward. Where else could the recharge connections be located? Bob and Jan Orr Canadian Barth owners 94 30ft. Breakaway/3116 Cat/ Allison 5 speed/ Gillig

The R12 valves (fittings) are on the back plate of the compressor, behind the hoses with plastic covers. This looks like a very common Sanden Compressor. This should convert to R134a easily. Replace the reciever drier, install conversion R134A fittings on the R12 valves, install the propper amount of ester oil and R134A. You should be good to go. You will need to figure out what happend to the R12 that was in there. Leak? Compressor bad? You wont know until you charge it. Neil.

great...found the fittings...pretty easy to get at...one large hose and fitting marked SUC and a smaller hose marked DIS. Now just have to find what I need for the conversion...guess I'll try one of our canadian auto parts outlets like Napa...then all I need to figure out is how much R134A I need to recharge the whole system. thanks for the info... My 28' was equipped originally with R134a - it takes around 2.5-2.75 lbs. You should be able to find a kit with 6 to 8 OZ of ester oil and fittings. Look for a tag under the hood with the A/C specs. It should use a little less R134a than R12, about 80%. If you cant find the spects add R134R a little at a time till the low side pressure gets to about 30 PSI. Do not over fill. Do you have a vacuum pump? You will need to vacuum the system. Be prepared to replace the compressor or other expensive part. Even if it does work the compressor could fail after the conversion. The compressor is old and worn, the extra pressure of the conversion could be more than it can take. In my shop I would not do one unless the compressor was replaced. That said, on my older Barth I converted it with the old compressor and it works fine although it has to charged every spring. Good luck.

I did the conversion on my LWB 1-Ton van with rear air, and it took a couple of years before the ester oil finally sealed the pores in the hoses; I haven't had to recharge since last year.
