I have a 1991 Barth 34 foot on a Gillig chassis with a 3208 Cat engine. My cruise control quit working and I have had it checked out by a local Cat maintenance facility. All the tests in the troubleshooting section of my Gillig Chassis manual checked out. The conclusion is the Cruise Control Module (referred to as CA-1 control module in the troubleshooting section)is or has gone bad. They contacted Bendix, the manufacturer, who no longer makes the part. They stopped 5 or 6 years ago. The original Bendix part number was Bendix-Westing-house 102704; the part number later was changed by Bendix to 00065105. The Gillig part number as listed in my Chassis manual is 53-12087-000. Does anyone know if this part is available anywhere and what the cost might be? Thanks for any help. I have also contacted Fox.

Ahoy Marvin,

I hope you find a new module, but if you don't, keep in mind that the 91 Gillig/Cat 3208 also came with an ACME electro/mechanical cruise control system. You might have to replace the electical (and possibly, mechanical) components if you want to switch systems. Alternatively, heavy equipment (truck, busses) parts suppliers have good quality electronic after-market kits you could install.

Cheers,

TheGyrene
