I have a white film-fog on my windshield around the seal area. It comes up a few inches all along the bottom of the whole windshield. Does anyone else have that problem and how do you fix it? My '75 Barth has the "fog" around the bottom of my windshield like you describe but it is not in my line of vision so I choose to disregard at this time. Doorman is correct, replacement is the the only answer. Mary Don't mess with us old folks, we don't get old by being stupid! 1968 Barth trailer, 1975 Barth Motorhome and 1985 Barth Motorhome

It is typical with vintage autos. Automotive safety glass (not tempered) is two layers of glass with a layer of plastic film sandwiched between. Oxidation begins at the edges of the plastic and migrates. You cannot reverse the process.

No, that would be heat tempered glass, like back glass of a car, like shower door, like door or window glass near grade level.

That IS the function of the plastic sandwich, regardless of the marque. By contrast, you could have broken tempered glass and swept it up with a broom like rock salt.

Thanks all for your input. At this time, it does not impair my vision. So will do what Mary suggested and disregard for now.... just wanted to dress it up some Fred & Cindy Cook 1990 32' Regency, Cummins 1990 32' Regency, Wide Body Spartan Chassis, 8.3 CTA Cummins 4 Speed Allison Trans South Central Missouri

Fred, If you are just concerned about how it looks (cosmetics), here is a little custom trick. Buy a small roll of vinyl tape (not electrical tape) in a two inch width, black in color. Use this on the outside of the windshield. Make sure the windshield is clean in the area you are placing the tape. Try to keep it as close to the rubber seal as you can. You may have to use an exacto knife to trim near the corners. This will give your windshield a nice new look. Many new vehicles come from the factory with this area blacked out. This should not hinder your vision in this area at all. Just a suggestion for you. Jim
