I know rivets have been discussed a few times. Still not sure what size goes into our 1990 Regency. I bought a rivet tool at Lowes, but the max size they have is 3/16 rivet. I need to plug a few holes. I just tried to put a rivet in and the hole is a bit larger than the rivet diameter. Is this normal or should it be snug? Who sells a 1/4 rivet gun that I can get locally in the St Louis area? I wanted to knock this out today. Thanks!

Also look to MSC. They hace commercial grade rivets and tools rather than hobby grade stuff.

Marson makes the best rivet tool in my opinion. They can be bought off a tool truck or on line. Craftsman also has a good product. Invest in one that has a rotating head and stay away from cheap rivets. Consider Cherry Max rivets. Have used them for years where applicable on aircraft. If you need to drill-out a broken rivet do it properly. Drill into the center of the head just enough to "pop" off the head, then tap out the base with a punch sized for the hole. If you drill into the rivet you will "spin" the rivet which will make the hole larger forcing you to go to a larger rivet.
