Hi all, my wife and I are fulltimers and looking at purchasing a Barth. We looked at one today, a 1990 28 footer, and it had something weird I've never seen in an RV before and was wondering if this is a "Barth thing" or just some strange rigging. Basically, the kitchen sink, the bathroom sink, and the tub all have grey water lines and white ones. The seller said the white ones are for use when you're using tank water, but when hooked up to city water you have to disconnect the white ones and hook up the grey ones. Any ideas about this would be much appreciated!

I think it's fair to say this is not a Barth thing. Are you saying there are somehow two sets of drain pipes and you literally disconnect under each device and reconnect other lines? Where do they go? Grey water lines go to the grey water tank, where do these white ones go? You realize "Grey" water lines are not always grey in color, right? I'm thinking someone is confused. Who is the seller of this Barth? Maybe we can help get to the bottom of this. I'd bet that he is describing the supply lines. OEM PB lines, which are gray in color, and some white lines added later. Perhaps (guessing here) because the PB lines did not hold city water pressure. Or a work-around for a malfunctioning electric fill valve. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

That's correct, they're the supply lines. The malfunctioning fill valve sounds like a reasonable explanation. It does make me question the entire coach though, since it would sure seem easier to fix it right than to come up with this weird solution. I'm glad to know this wasn't some Barth design quirk though!

I was going to mumble something along those lines, but didn't want to be a wet blanket. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

Most coaches of that vintage would have an autofill valve to top of the FW tank when on city water. There is also a manual valve in case the autofill valve leaks or malfunctions. The autofill valve is typically a solenoid LPG valve. It sounds like this coach "enjoyed" innovative repair.
