The door on my coach sags so much that you almost need to lift it to get it closed. It Also opens hard. Anyone ever had this problem and fixed it? The door is pop riveted on. R.P.Muise 1994 Breakaway/Cummins 5.9/Allison transmission/Spartan Chassis

Yes I had the same thing with mine. The hinges were worn out and the you had to lift the door about 3/8 of an inch to close properly. After a lot of thought I just drilled out the rivets, removed the piano hinge and sealed the holes and installed 4 regular heavy duty hinges (with non removable pins for security) and the door still works perfectly 4 years later.

I bought lock washers and cut them to make like a C washer. Lifted the door and inserted them in the hinges. Did this about 3 years ago and they are still fine. '92 Barth Breakaway - 30' 5.9 Cummins (6B) 300+ HP 2000 Allison Front entrance

Yep, and small snap-rings will do the job too....Just need to shim top and bottom ones to make it work.

Is the door sagging from the hinges, or because the door itself has lost the ability to maintain 90 degree angles in the corners when the door is open? On mine, the Hehr window was installed upside down, so the seam in the rubber gasket around the glass was at the bottom. Eventually this separated and enough water got in with the 3/8 by 1/8 inch gap, that the internal structure of the door was harmed. Next to the top hinge, and diagonally across the door, I drilled holes for eye bolts, positioned to clear the door frame when the door is closed. To that, I added steel braided cable and a turnbuckle. Matt
