Richard_MuiseFishing a new rear camera wire
My rear camera died last fall. I purchased a new color unit from Tadi Brothers. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get the new wire fished? Should I run through the roof or try to go through the floor? I used my snake camera and I can see where the old wire goes through the floor on the left side of the back wall.

Steve VWIs there no chance of reusing the old wires? I was able to replace the ends and use the old wires again.
If not, it would seem easier to go underneath and run the wires along the frame. Long wires!
Give us an update when you proceed. I'm sure others have, or will have to someday, replace the camera. good luck

RustyIf a new cable is needed, I'd butt crimp the new to the old and use the old as the fish tape. This will be tedious and time-consuming, but the easiest in the end.

Richard_MuiseRusty,
Looks like at least part way, the camera wire is ty wrapped to a large trunk of wires heading under the left side of the coach behind the bathroom.

I ran it inside along the drivers side. I also ran another cord for future pulling. It took a little bit of finagling to get it under and thru the toilet area.
The camera system is capable of doing another camera. I plan on putting one shooting straight back at hitch level so i can see the tires on the boat to watch for any problems. It will be easy this time (I believe)

RustyThere are lubricants specifically formulated for fishing through conduit, and they may help. If the attempt hangs up, retrieve, and try a thinner wire for the messenger, which can be then tried as the fish tape. Beveling the leading edge of the butt connector may help.
In any event, cut all the accessible cable ties.
The choke point is the drop from the camera mount to an accessible spot near the frame; once there, it's a matter of threading the new cable inside a frame rail.

Richard_MuiseThings went well for the first 25 feet. I fished the wires underneath the tranny control, under the couch, under the cabinets, behind the washer without a problem. Then, enter the Turd Fairy. I used an electrical snake to fish from the corner of the bed, through the sub floor to behind the washing machine. Took about twelve tries and there is now a section of snake I left there because it got stuck. But wait.... It gets better! The Turd Fairy got PMS. In order to get from under the bed to the camera, I studied the blue prints and concluded I needed to remove the mirror behind the bed, cut a three foot access hole in the wall and drill holes through the steel studs. Four freeking hours later, the wire was in place. If the camera ever fails again, I'm going wireless!

Tom and JulieWhile it's too late now for you (maybe) I replaced the old B&W Sony on mine with a new camera that was included in a new Pioneer stereo unit. The Sony had sound that allowed you to hear a person giving instructions. The Pioneer did not. Thus I had four or five wires from the dash to the camera and the color Pioneer only required two. I did confirm there was nothing wrong with the wires and just connected two of them. I left the others rolled up in the cabinet above the bed in case I ever added anything. I have never had any problems with that setup.

Richard_MuiseThanks but my wire was part of the problem. The Tadi brothers camera I installed works great.
