We had an interesting thing happen this morning.
We had marginal digital service for our TV. In fact only one broadcast station would even come in. This is with a 22" JVC LCD TV connected to the original Winegard Batwing antenna and amplifier. While watching the morning news to see updates on Irene the signal would be lost if either of the ceiling vent fans were turned on.

Any ideas as to why and what the solution might be?

What brand and size fan are they? The ones with a 5" or 6" blade has a cheap motor; the Fantastics are better. Brushed DC motors create a lot of RF interference. The TV could be picking this up through the 120 VAC wiring. Try running an extension cord from another outlet.

However, the issue could be a gap in the shielding of the coax cable. If you are feeding the TV through a player or recorder, connect the coax directly to the TV. Check the connections for tightness,

Tom, Your batwing uses 12v for the amplifier. You might be pulling the 12v down with your fans. Our coach has a 12v outlet in the amplifier box. check for good 12v there. Still got that bumper if you need it.I plan on being at Milford GTG.

The fans are 6" Jensen I'm guessing original by the 1987 manufacture date on them. Maybe it's time to replace them.

The TV is connected directly to the amplifier so there are only a couple connections for me to check and or replace. Hopefully it isn't an issue in the cable from the antenna as that doesn't look to be an easy fix.

I've got the same 12v amplifier/outlet box so I'll check voltage there when the fans are on. I am still interested in the bumper and will be at Milford also.
