I’m bringing this back to the group. Rusty is no longer with us. Not sure if we have a subject expert among us anymore. We have lots of folks who have opinions including myself. I do my own changes. Now with the 8.3 that is a full 5 gallons more or less. I’d like to hear from our group their thoughts on the newest latest greatest. I see lots of good reports on Rotella T5. I have been using Delvac 1300 Super.

Switched out to Trynsnd in the transmission. Allison MD3060

Do we have a newer member with a background in lubrication?

I would not be adding beer to my Barth motor. Not even good in my lawnmower. Alcohol actually does not lubricate the brain either. The molecules are so small the molecules actually clog the brain. Maybe the clog in the brain achieves a feeling of lubrication.

Our two local Rural King stores have Mobil Delvac 1300 for $12.99 a gallon and Mobil 1 Delvac Synthetic for $22.99 a gallon. Both are available in 5 gallon pails but the oil actually costs more per gallon in the bigger containers, I guess due to the cost of the packaging. I've used both Rotella T5 & Chevron Dello in our other diesel trucks with good results. As a side note, I never have difficulty talking my wife into going to RK, as she is usually happy to see the baby chicks, ducks, & numerous rabbits.
