Can anyone shed some light on where I might find the coach serial number on an 88 - 33' Regal SE Tag. I have searched through the archives here and checked all the mentioned locations and everywhere I can think of. I have the number from the Barth binder but just cannot find the actual Barth manufacturer's number plate on the coach. Thanks, Bill | ||

Bill: I also have the same coach as you do. My prints are marked Coach # 3448 I do not have a numbered "plate"..........carl "THE TOY" 88 Regal SE Coach # 3448 | |||

My '90 Regal SE has the Barth build plate right above the driver's window. Took me awhile to find it - it's well-hidden by the curtain track. | |||

Thanks for helping to maintain my sanity Carl, we are Coach #3474. Do you have any insight into why they seem to have diverted from the regular practice of attaching a number plate to the coach. Have you had any difficulty as a result of the missing plate, such as registration etc. Bill | |||

I'll be looking under the curtains (again) Olroy. I can't believe they just didn't bother with a number plate.... but there seems to be at least two of us who can't find one. How large is the plate.. and does it have information other that the coach serial number? thanks, Bill | |||

Mine is screwed to the wall just behind the driver's seat a few inches above the floor. I have seen at least one inside the storage over the windshield. | |||

Mine is silvery-faced metal with black printing, about 2" x 5", screwed to the wall. It has the coach serial #, the VIN #, chassis mfr. , wheel & tire size, date of mfr. of coach, date chassis was mfrd. ,axle weight ratings front & rear, and gvwr. There is no gcwr shown. The cover of my Barth binder has the coach S/N, & the VIN # stuck to it with embossed labeling tape. My coach S/N is 8906 3617 33C C1. If the # on your binder is similar, that must be the coach S/N. It looks like the gremlins at the Barth factory put their tongues in their cheeks, and set up a treasure hunt for folks who want to see their build plates. I've had no problems with the authorities on the Barth, but once I was questioned about a GMC motorhome that only had a decal, not a metal plate for the mfrs. plate. We found the S/N stamped into the metal of a frame horn the rear bumper was attached to. End of problem. | |||

Thanks to everybody, I'll be double checking all these locations today. My GMC vin. # is on a metal strip just the size of the number attached above and to the right of the radiator. I have not seen it anywhere else... yet. Olroy your plate sounds the same as the one in my 75. On with the search. Thanks again. | |||

I should add that my data plate is a thin aluminum plate with a paper form glued to it's face and apparently varnished. The form is printed, with the numbers for my coach typed in before varnishing. | |||

With Bill H's report of a number plate being seen above the windshield in storage compartment, I'm begining to wonder if it may be behind the back-up camera screen. Do you recall which side it was on Bill H. So much hassel over a few numbers. | |||

Hi Everybody, This is of interest to anyone wishing to import a Barth to Canada. According to the regs I have located, all Barths up to 96 are eligible to come to Canada but NONE built after that! No idea why. But ANY RV imported MUST have the US Federal compliance sticker AND a 17 DIGIT VIN number. Don't no why 17 is the big number. Maybe they standardized all motor vehicle vins? So... Guess it would be important to have that data plate if I should be so lucky someday. There sure aren't any to be found in Ontario. Also, I read some posts about folks buying a Minnisota Barth and taking it back home to Alberta. Would like to hear of their experience. (Maybe a new thread, to stop my drifting of this one?) Don, the missing number plate has not caused me any heartburn with the bureaucracy yet and I don't anticipate any problem at this point. This is the coach from Minnesota and it now lives in Alberta without any importation problems. The first hand info on the process is available at - http://www.tc.gc.ca/ I have the out of Province inspection (Provincial, not Federal) to deal with yet but it is mostly concerned with condition and safety I believe. If the vehicle is newer than 15 years old you have additional Federal hoops to jump through as you can see on the above web page. I would not hesitate to recommend the process and If you find your Barth south of the border don't worry about the trip through Customs, just follow the procedure on the web page. | |||

I've done this before with vehicles over 15 years old but always worry about the picky customs agent you are liable to get thru the luck of the draw when you show up at the border. I do wonder about the 17 character VIN. Our current RV is a 1990 Dodge Pleasure-Way B class and the Dodge chassis number is indeed 17 letters and numbers. I went out in the snow and just counted! The PW serial number is 10 characters. Also, of course the PW was made in Saskatchewan. Are Barth's chassis numbered the same way? Thanks again. REgards, Don >
