I have an indicator light, wish I knew what it indicated, warning, deployed, running, what? Here is a picture of what I,m talking about. I imagine because its red being lit would be a bad thing. I need to know if it lights what it wrong!! Anybody know?

Dana, from it's location it may just show whether the generator is running or not. Just a guess but start the generator and observe the light.

It's odd that the hour meter also has waht appears to be an indicator light too. Could it be that one is to tell the generator is running and the other indicates voltage to the coach? In any case, Nick is right on about testing it to see what is what.

The generator switch has a built in indicator light when it runs the switch turns green. The red on the hour meeting is not a light, it is a red raised knob. I have another indicator light for jacks down. Sorry I should have wrote that in the original post. The generator runs great for about 30 seconds and sputters shuts off. I will be changing out the LP filter when it quits being cold and nasty on my days off.

What does the knob do on the meter?

Alot of generators have a low-oil shutoff switch.... I wonder if that light could alert you to a low oil condition if the genny shuts down or wont start.....

The knob looks like a 4 petal flower raised about 1/8 inch. I wonder if the genny ran more than 30 seconds if it turns. There is no way to access it.

Now that sounds like a possible. It would not be energized unless it had low oil which it does not. That also gives me a direction to trace toward or colored wires to look for at the genny.

That red knob in the middle of the hour meter turns when the generator is on just indicate it is timing the operation.

So...it's like the analog version of the windows thingee that spins to show it isn't just ignoring me?

I just spent 110 dollars replacing the glow plugs in my generator. They went bad when the Xantrex Automatic Generator Starter I was trying to install kept them on constantly after the AGS was powered up. I had been told by Xantrex that it would work with my generator. After burning out my glow plugs I called them again and, all of a sudden, they remembered that it would NOT work with my generator.

I tell you all this because I thought about putting in a light to let me know when the glow plugs are being powered. Your red light may be for the same reason.

By the way, I later purchased a Magnum AGS and it works like a charm. It cost a lot less also.

You may want to write them, document what happened and threaten to send the "Claim" to Good Sam and FMCA if they can't settle the legitimate dispute. These companies can't afford to ruin their reputation in the industry that is their life blood.

Somehow, Xantrex stays in business despite their reputation. Or, perhaps, they are still riding on their earlier reputation.
