I got my new Winegard antenna and amplifier for my TT. I also got a new digital television to go with it. I hooked it up and - NOTHING! I got my VOM out to check the antenna coax. I took a long wire and clipped it to the center wire and ran it to where the cable comes out by the TV. I had continuity. I then checked the shield using the same method. Continuity again. I then checked with the VOM on the inside cable and the shield. Infinity. No leaks. I checked the cable ends and they looked good. It should work??? I then took some coax and bypassed the TT's cable and hooked the antenna directly to the amplifier box. I was amazed. The TV found 39 channels! They were crystal clear too. So my question is, why wouldn't it work with the original TT cable? W4JDZ

Electrical continuity on RF cables isn't the key. RF signals basically travel on the outside of the center conductor. A break in shielding or the insulator can change the capacitance or kill the signal. I guess the only logical thing to do is to try to fish new coax through the roof. Yuck! After seeing how weird this stick and staples trailer is built, I can't imagine what kind of a job that will be. W4JDZ
