Just got back from a 8 day 1000 mile trip with the 'Ol Barth (1985 454 Chevy 28ft). Had a couple symptoms I would like to run by my RVing friends out there.

1. About 1 out of 7 or 8 starts I turn the key and I have a 1 or 2 second silence, like it isn't going to start. and then maybe it will turn over once and then the 1-2 second nothing and then it starts. It has never not started however the 1-2 seconds is harrowing.

2. After I have driven for a couple hours and then stop, (like for gas or to sign into a campground). When I start back up there is a squeeling like a fan belt. But, it always stops after a few minutes.

3. OK, my dash air is squeeling when ever I turn it on. I usually use my roof air when traveling. Much more comfortable. However, when it squeels does that always mean a $500.00 compressor?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks Bill, I think the heat is the thing on the starter. It only does it when it is real hot. I will look for the shield tomorrow.
