For Christmas my wife bought me a backup camera for the Barth. Finally got around to installing the camera and monitor (real nice wireless Voyager system). I removed the top center running light in the rear, mounted the camera in that spot, wired the camera to the running light circuit. Installed the monitor in a perfect spot under the TV cabinet wired to the old 12 volt TV circuit. Everything worked perfect great rear vision, monitor is real clear even has audio so you can hear a person from behind. So I'm all excited to use the camera for backing up the Barth, well I start the engine and turn on the monitor and nothing the monitor will not power up. I get to checking power and than realize that the TV power circuit gets disabled when the ignition is on. The TV circuit is on a relay the opens the circuit shuts down the TV so you cannot have the TV on while driving down the road. Has anyone found or know where this relay is located, I searched for a couple hours traced what wire I could get too. I figured the relay would be in the front with the ignition wires, however now I'm thinking it's in the back with the 12 volt circuit breakers. Simple fix if I just find the relay. The funny part about the whole thing is that after doing the mounting of the camera I left my new 8' ladder in the back so I could look at it on the monitor, and adjust the camera. So guess what I forgot about the ladder while dealing with the dead TV circuit, and I had to backup the motorhome so I could park it back in the barn. So I preceded to run over my ladder, I stopped after hearing the crunch of the fiberglass.

O U C H ! like something I would do (or why I no longer have a Barth)

I found a wiring diagram for a dash TV relay in my Barth binder. It gives no indication of it's location, just wire sizes, colors and terminals used. If you want, I can post a photo. It seems that the 120v wires would be easiest to trace back to the relay. Mine says,#14-2 w/grnd Romex above dash to breaker box location 7. However, my breaker #7 is marked as Bath and Ext outlets (GFI) Relay might be near 120v panel, my panel is under the couch. Or it might be on the load side of a GFI.

I disconnected that relay on our coach. It was VERY near the A/C Breaker box. The relay is mounted in a small gray Electrical box on our coach. PM me if you need additional help. Nick

That is so classic! (Sorry I can't help it.) Sounds like something I would do... back over something while fixing the backup camera! When we were kids we lost a couple of bikes to Dad's cars... Besides, it could have been worse. One of my friends (not me, that's my story, really) had a boat trailer tongue propped up on a cement block. Hitched up the trailer, forgot the block... backs out of the yard... runs over block, puts hole in gas tank. Hears noise, pulls forward, tears out rear brake line. Retrieves block, discovers gas leak (not in time to avoid killing lawn...) Both my TV and backup monitor had "alternate" power sources. The 110V had a relay which was mounted in a box right near the 110 breaker box under the couch. I hotwired around it for steady power. The 12v has 3 relays mounted on the firewall, high and left of the steering column. (Actually mine has an additional Barth fuse panel and 3 relays mounted there.) One relay feeds the ACC power for the additional fuses, switched by the ignition switch. Another relay is switched by the trans selector switch and controls backup lights and camera. The other one I'm not sure what it does/did. (former fog lights, horn relay, etc?) When in doubt just run a new wire and fuse from an appropriate feed source. 9708-M0037-37MM-01 "98" Monarch 37 Spartan MM, 6 spd Allison Cummins 8.3 325+ hp

That would be great if you can, that would help in identifying the relay. The 12 volt wire and the Romex wire disappear into the side wall, the radio antenna, speaker wires and CB antenna I can trace all those into the dash compartment. One good thing is I found two huge mice nest inside both of the inner upper corners of the front overhead cabinets. I found them after removing the side panels the flipside is where did they get all that pink fiberglass insulation? From somewhere that needs it I'm sure.

This relay was right next to the 12v breakers panel on our coach. 1986 31' Regal -1976 Class C 454/T400 P30 -350/T400 G30 twin cntr beds - 21' rear bath

That's where I'm headed next.
That's where I might end up. Thanks everyone.

I have a document titled WIRING CHECK LIST and a few separate drawings. I will post all of it in the Documentation forum.

Wow that is perfect, Thanks. That relay has to be by the breaker panel, all I have to do is disconnect the ignition red wire on terminal 10 and I'm good to go.

Boy you guys are good. I checked my circuit panel thats located under the bed and sure enough there's a gray plastic junction box that's mounted to the backside of the panel. And inside the box is the switching relay for the 12 volt and 120 volt power that goes to the TV. So I disconnected the ignition wire that energizes the relay coil, now the rear monitor works with the engine running. Now I can see my busted up ladder just fine.

After changing out the original t.v. for a flat screen I went to run a 120v circuit to the front cabinet. Found a 120 romex rolled up in the front cabinet. went back under the bed and there was the other end rolled up and marked T.V. Made installing the 120 circuit easy. 1986 31' Regal -1976 Class C 454/T400 P30 -350/T400 G30 twin cntr beds - 21' rear bath
