I just tried to purchase a generator muffler for a 1991 KOHLER model 7CKM21 and was shocked to find out that it was about $450.00. My response: "I'll think about it" and then hung up. I work on tractor trailers for a living and have never paid that kind of money for an exhaust system. Am I out of touch on this one? Is KOHLER out of touch with reality? I still have the owners manual and the part number for the muffler is #278224 for the curb side and #278223 for the steet side. Has anyone found a cheaper replacement muffler? This looks like the same type of muffler that I have seen sitting thru the hood of some farm tractors. ------------------ http://www.truckroadservice.com/ [This message has been edited by Bill (edited June 18, 2003).]

I also found Kolher to be out of site with prices. They wanted $216.00 for a new fuel pump. I got a comprable replacement for under $100.00. NAPA carrys muffler kits for Kolher and Onan generators. The cost was nothing near what you were quoted. It will take someone behind the counter to find it in the books. The person who helped me had to look long and hard.
