Exhaust manifold-pipe.
Finally got around to fixing the donut that blew on our Darlington trip. I thought one of the 3 nuts had fallen off the stud, causing the blowout, but I found 2 nuts missing and the 3rd wasn't even tight, leading me to believe that when I had the fabrication work done a couple years ago, they never final tightened the flange. I guess we're supposed to check their work after we pay them to do it.

I always wondered what happened to the ADD kids in my Chem classes. I guess they end up as mechanics. confusion

I have done many mechanical repairs on my vehicles, including 86Barth, obviously. I enjoy the projects up to a point but many times I would have farmed them out if I knew a good pro to do it for me. So many are inexperienced (on the job training!) or simply don't care.

A few good ones are around but they have so much work they have to turn down more jobs. So there I am crawling around on the ground again...

Danny, you might want to double nut those flange bolts, I installed mine and I know I had Them tight, but on the way home from Indy I had the same problem.

I installed longer bolts and doubled netted them and two trips latter no problems.

Dave R, I bought the kit from NAPA, studs, lockers and long nuts. Only about 450. I used all new nuts and washers and one new stud, just because the old one came out. I'll re-torque after the first run and if I have any more problems I'll think about doubling down.
