I have a sagging right side front, but haven't gone under to measure. Options are do nothing (been doing that), new springs or re-arched or Tembren rubber boosters. Firestone now longer mfgers their kit for the Spartan chassis.

So what have others done, and any experience with Tembren?

Checked the archive and nothing seems to address this problem.

Hi Gary! I just replaced the springs on my Ford chassis. mine is a 31 foot regal gasser. At sometime in the past a couple of helper springs had been added so that might be an option for you, I was never able to find a ride height spec and see how sagged they were but when I got the coach and saw the helpers added I decided to replace the springs. The shop that did the work suggested we keep the helpers so I did and this coach had an air bag kit on th rear so we were able to level it that way, at least to within a half inch or so. Oddly The ford chassis has a heavier lh spring than rh which I guess allows / compensates for the tanks, genny, basement air, furnace etc all being on the left. not a spartan but might give you some options.

HI Gary: I am experiencing the same problem. Not only is the spring sagging, the eyelets have gotten worn to the point that I have had to take extreme measures to retain the bushings.

It is also my right side. Talked to Betts a local supplier and installer. Their comment is that I definitely should replace the springs. Being 23 years old and with 271K miles on mine, they recommend complete replacement. yes the springs could be re-arched but they can not fix the end eyelets enlargement..

After this race season is finished this fall I will replace all four springs. There should be a number on the bottom of the spring and they can duplicate the spring.

I will look into a new panhard bar system for the rear and also the front. Will be expensive but any other way and I will be just chasing the problems as each eyelet and sag problem develops.

Wish I could find an air system that would work. The newer air systems are really good.

Ed, did you get an estimate in the cost of sprint replacement?

I have not gotten pricing yet I just want to get this year's travel finished and then deal with it. I will be contacting Spartan for their part number and also comparing to the numbers on the bottom of the springs.

My springs are heavier then most if not all 30' Breakaways as I have the Eaton rear end and Westport front axle and my GVW is rated 20,000 instead of the standard 30' rating of 18,000

I will probably start this project in November

A good Truck Spring shop will be able to get you back to proper ride height. Back in the day when I had three small dump trucks, I would take my trucks to the local Emch Spring Shop. They could build to any capacity I wanted to haul. Shop around your community. Check the reviews. Talk to truck drivers that have used the shop. Do your homework. Spend the money and get everything new.
Even though I have air suspension that is the first thing I replaced on my Regency. Cost about 6k for airbags, shocks and suspension parts. It is piece of mind when you are out on the road.
