I am fairly paranoid about safety, and have no reservations using my propane powered heater in my Barth..that being said, I hedge my bets with a GOOD (read expensive) A/C powered CO detector. I also put a Kidde Smoke detector on the wall farthest from the kitchen.

My Barth has twin Coleman roof air conditioners, both of which have low heat output settings. They take off the chill above 35 F.

We used them preferentially beacause of their using line power rather than using up my propane..

On our first trip in our Barth this past week we went to Belleville Ontario - which is cold at night. We have two propane ducted furnaces and we put them on and they worked great. The whole coach was just right as we set the thermostat where we wanted it - and we have a CO detector and smoke alarm also - we did have a window cracked open as we like the fresh air when we sleep. We weren't concerned about the safety. Our two roof air conditioners also have heat but we haven't used them. We will likely take a little electric heater with us for use in parks when we can plug them in and if we need heat. That being said, our aim this winter is to head far enough south so that we won't need the heat at all - we want to go to the sunny south where heat is outside!
