Took the Breakaway out this morning after it had been sitting for a couple of weeks. Before I did that, I put an overnight charge on the engine batteries, they were at 13.4 when I finished the charge. The house batteries were about 13. Went for a 100 mile ride and the alternator gauge said it was charging almost at the max mark, just one mark off from max. I wondered if the alternator was working too hard so when I got back, I put a volt meter on both the house and engine batteries. They all were about 13.5. Will the alternator continue to charge them more? Should I charge them more with the battery charger? Will that kind of charging damage the alternator? BTW, it ran great Jim

The gauge is a voltmeter. When it reads high, the batteries are charged. A low reading means the battery is low and should be charging. Check the voltage at the chassis battery; it should be around 14.5 with the engine running.
