When I drive over a bump I can hear and feel a slight rattle in the steering column. The steering does feel solid. Any ideas?

It sounds like a front end suspension component is loose or more likely worn.. Maybe a ball joint?

The Breakaways have solid front axles. Dick, it could be the tilt mechanism or the spline in the steering column - it should be greased.

The telescoping part of the column, if equipped, uses an adjustable tapered lock that, as it wears, becomes loose inside the column. Some are just below the horn button others are down the center of the column and require a 3/16 allen wrench. Simply tighten it a little until you feel a firm resistance in the telescoping motion. That will get rid of 90% of the "knocking".

Hi,

How do you find that lock?

I tore an entire steering column down on a Country Coach, only to find out that it was accessible from the top. The adjustment on our '94 Sovereign on the Spartan IC is just under the horn knob. I found it looking for the "Allen" screw like the CC had. When all else fails, read the instructions.
