Hello everyone! This will be my first post since buying Jim and Teri's '93 Breakaway last year. I'm starting down the path of looking at a toad. I already own a 2006 malibu maxx which can be flat towed, my concern is whether the 190hp cummins is up to the task. Are there any of you towing 3300lbs with that engine? What are your thoughts? Yes, i'm aware lighter would be better.

We tow a Suzuki Vitari at about 3400+ pounds.

If you have the 6 speed transmission then you have a 230hp engine with plenty of omph. The 4 speed with the 190hp is marginal.

I towed at least that much weight, with a very similar Breakaway, from here to CA and back. Usually cruised 100kph. However, going over Vail Pass and Loveland pass, I was down to 40kph with the water temp climbing dangerously close to 220f. On several long grades, I was down around 70kph.

Specifically I was towing my 2006 MINI Cooper on a FeatherLite car trailer.
