I've just joined the Barth website as a registered member, having poached off your site for several months learning as much as I can so I can make a sound purchase shortly--I've looked at two so far and found them wanting. (They "wanted" more than I could pay.)There is a '94 Regal, 28 foot, 6.5L GM diesel pusher for sale on consignment at www.PPLmotorhomes.com (I had contacted the owner but he had already consigned it before I could talk directly with him.) My question is: Will the 6.5L GM diesel pusher on a 28 foot Regal have the power to take me comfortably through the mountains of AZ,CO,WY,MT,UT? By "comfortably" I mean at a pace that will keep up with traffic--i.e., not be a pig on the hills. Would sure appreciate any advice I could get. Thanks.

Hi Virg,

No poaching here. I know we have a lot of visitors. Over a week we will have a couple thousand sign ons but only maybe 50 posts. So glad you joined in.

I saw this coach and first of all thought it looked very nice, a great floor plan for a small coach.

As far as the power is concerned. I take my 28 foot gasser up hills (GM 454) at 35-45 MPH. I'm talking grades here pulling my Saturn SC2. My 454 has 252 HP and 400 ft/lb torque at 2800 rpms..

The GM 6.5L has 195 hp and pulls 430 ft/lb of torque at 1800 rpms.

If you go to www.bankspower.com they can charge you money to give you another 57 ft/lb.

They'll charge me $3K and give me 95 ft/lb. The big difference? You are doing all of this stuff at 1000 rpms less than me which means 12 mpg rather than 8.

I wouldn't plan on pulling a Hummer but I but you'll have a ball with this coach and it will take you anywhere you want to go and you you could easily pull a Honda CRV or such.

I'd also try to get the guy to $26-28K but even $34K isn't bad for this nice coach.

By the way this is the engine they put in Hummers. Newer revision I am sure...

Thanks for the info on the 6.5L GM diesel pusher 28'Barth. Now, I'm hoping someone(s)can give me info on the reliability and durability of this engine. Is it a worthy power plant for a Barth or should I go for a gasser or wait for a Cummins diesel? Thanks
