What we discovered under the carpet.
Don, I have the same thing in my coach. The best I can remember it had 12 volts on the wires. Will check out wheni get home. Roughing it down in Myrtle Beach state park. Sky

billyt53Maybe it is an access door to a "Safe Room". I am just sayin'...Stand on it and press the button, see what happens.

Going Down?
If it is a pressure switch and you connect battery power to it and then stand on it to see if it is a foot warmer, you will let the smoke out of it......

I figured it out. It's a rather obscure option I found in the literature. It's the hairtronic perming machine. Step out of the shower, step on the device, turn on the 120v and it will give you a perm....saves $60 to $100 per application....
I definately would have bought one for my
ex-wife....

Lance WaltonIt is definitely for the Nobi alarm system. I have two in my Regency. One is in front of the sofa and the other is under the floor in front of the bed. They work well. On the Nobi panel there is a switch that, when put in one position, will take them out of the circuit so you can set the alarm while you are inside and moving about.
They were under the carpet when I removed them. At first I took them out but decided to see if they would work under the laminate flooring. I replaced them and installed the flooring on top of them. They result, they do work and well to boot.
By the way, I also agree about the bloody staples. I should have saved them all, I probably could have gotten a tidy sum from the metal salvage people.

jer711I am nearly certain that is a floor heater. In Texas, they are common in newer/high end construction under tile floors etc in bathrooms. You can buy them at Home Depot. I also found the same under the carpet in front of my couch, and another at the foot of the bed. We removed carpet and installed hardwood floor right over the top of it. Never did locate a switch or supply for it. You can also cut the wire and pull it up easily.

Jim & BarbAnother vote for a mat alarm switch.
I have seen this type installed under rugs , they also make them appeared to be mats for wiping your feet on. They are used to set off the alarm if an intruder makes it past the door alarm switches.

That is the key. Explains the distance from the entryway.

Tom & LoraineI found the same floor grid on by coach and wondered what the heck is that? Well after reading this post I looked at my electrical diagram and it is a floor mat alarm pad, mine has a gray wire going to it. Part of the Nobi burglar alarm system.

MC BartherWe replaced our carpet two years ago. My wife Janet, agrees with the comment on staples. We spent hours pulling staples.
I have to along with a low voltage use, given the wire shown in the picture.

Steve VWBurglar alarm? Well maybe... it IS a pressure switch mat but it is there to monitor foot traffic. (If you aren't seat belted and you wander in the coach while underway, it will be recorded by the "black box" to be downloaded by law enforcement so to issue tickets accordingly.) Don't try to claim "it was the dog" it also records weight (for your doctor/health insurance?)
No, I'm not paranoid. (I just wish I could be sure I've found all of the hidden cameras...)

Steve VWI'll sleep better now in my 86 (as long as that alarm system is working!)
Maybe you FLA guys could put the mat outside for alligator alerts!
