Nothings easy. I'm trying to put new Bilsteins on the Breakaway. Got Bilstein part #'s from Spartan. B46 1731 for the front and B46 1732 for the rear. Wrong part #'s Mad. They are two narrow for the mounting brackets. Bilstein says those part #'s were only for '94 to '99 Spartan chassis. If anyone out there has replaced their shocks for a 92/93 Breakaway on a Spartan 2000 chassis and knows the correct part #'s, please let me know. thanks
Jim

Hey Jim, I assume you are referring to the rear shocks? These fit into a "U" shaped bracket right?

I had the same issue and solved it buy putting a washer between the inside of the "U" bracket and the side of the shock mounting tube.

I verified that the numbers I had were the correct parts for my 30' Breakaway, don't know if they are the same as yours, can't find my data.

EDIT:

Same part numbers that I used Jim, you can find the shock discussion here:

Talked to another guy at Spartan and he said the first guys at Spartan gave me the wrong info. He is trying to get right part #'s. I thought about the washer too, but now am not even sure if the Bilsteins are the right ones for the MH.

Bilsteins are on a lot of MH and heavy vehicles. The part numbers I confirmed I used have been on my breakaway for 120k miles. I put Monroes on for 5K miles not nearly as good as Bilsteins.

Yes they are the same. Did you click on the link I included with my previous post?

I got those numbers two ways

1. From Spartan parts dept.

2. The OEM shocks on my Breakaway are Monroe. I got the Monroe numbers and crossed them to Bilstein.

Results? Same Bilstein number.

Don't over think this. It is not unusual to have differences between manufacturers.

Find a washer that is a tight fit between the shock bolt tube and the inside if the mounting "U",put the bolt in and tighten

You're good to go!

Good advice. That is one of my problems. Since I don't know much about these things, I do tend to 'over think' them, hoping not to make a mistake. Will get out there and put them on and let 'er rip. Thanks
