ever since we purchased our breakaway, we have not been able to use our refrigerator. the original had been replaced with a norcold N821. this is a two way fridge running on propane or AC. the unit still needs a 12 volt signal to operate the controller. the problem I have is it acts like there is no 12 volt power to it. there is a green wire (ground) and a white (hot) wire and the red wire which was the igniter is not used. when I use a voltage meter from the white to green, I get a reading of 12.66 volts. if the shore power is plugged in the voltage will read 13.4. the green wire checked with an ohm meter to ground shows 0 resistance. but when I use a test light from the white to the green, nothing happens to the light. what am I checking incorrectly. I took another battery and hooked it to the frigde and it works. any ideas? ken

On our coach the 12v runs thru a 40a self reseting breaker. Check your 12v between the white(+) and a good ground while connecting your test light. If it drops to from 12vto 0v you have a bad connection or possible bad breaker. 1986 31' Regal -1976 Class C 454/T400 P30 -350/T400 G30 twin cntr beds - 21' rear bath

Doorman, I did try checking voltage and the light at the same time.It does drop from 12.4 to 0.0. As soon as I remove the test light, it jumps back to 12 4 in a matter of a second. Would the resetting breaker take longer or does that sound right to you? PS, where would I find the location of that breaker? thanks

My 40a breaker is located in my generator compartment. It comes off a lug mounted on a 50a breaker. On my coach this is where my split is for my generator and runs to my 12v breaker panel. Don't know if this will help as my coach is a Regal. 1986 31' Regal -1976 Class C 454/T400 P30 -350/T400 G30 twin cntr beds - 21' rear bath

Are you checking at the reefer 12 VDC supply? Your symptoms are those of a bad connection - you get 12 V with the meter; the test lamp draws a small amount of current, and drops the voltage. Rusty, I did notice that some of the spade connectors in the circuit breaker box are loose. I think I better tighten up all the clips. thanks ken
