Quick question before I start ripping into the dash...should my gauge have some sort of light or be back lit? I had to drive it home from the shop the other night and noticed there was no way of seeing my speed or fuel! Sorry for the novice question but Im really not that familiar with older vehicles.

My instrument cluster on the 85 Regal is the same. All the gages should be back lit. Maybe a loose connection somewhere or the dimmer thing might be shot.

Did you try to rotate your head light switch? Ralph Glover 1976 27' Barth P-30 454 1998 Tracker Toad

Thanks a lot, I figured that was the case...should there be a dimmer control knob somewhere on the dash?

On mine all I have is the headlight switch which you can rotate clockwise or counter to change the brightness of the panel lights. Ralph Glover 1976 27' Barth P-30 454 1998 Tracker Toad

If you can't rotate the light switch to get dash lights, the contacts might be burnt. Bad connection are a known problem with the light switch. Just to note head light switch that power for tail light come from the same fuse as dash light. No tail light no dash lights. It's doesn't appear to come on when the headlight knob is turned, but the tail lights seem to be working fine.
