Front plastic defroster vent covers
Anyone know where I can get a new set of the vent covers for the defroster outlets? These are plastic on my Barth and are flat mounted on top of the dash. I would love to find some in aluminum, but will be happy enough with some new plastic ones too.

Thanks,
Corey

They're as mine: about 18" length, 1-1/2" wide, black plastic in/on a flat leather dash shelf. Mine, too, are cracked. However, I made a flat panel of cherry-stained "Baltic Birch" plywood with a real cherrywood front surround lip which sits "on top of" the vents; it looks GREAT -just like factory original- as it matches the cabinet wood. I lift it off and store it in the bedroom on the rare occasions we're driving in cold climes. I'm in the process of fabricating duplicates of the plastic in real cherrywood so it'll look good (and defrost properly) when the wood dash panel is off. And no, I won't make any for y'all Wink

First of all, Thank you Richard for the generous offer, but mine are as Gunner describes. I like the idea of crafting them out of wood and maybe I could use one of the new "plastic wood" substitutes to not worry about moisture. Thanks for the ideas Gunner.

Mine have cracked also; styrene cement works well to repair; I make my own from a 50-50 mix of acetone and MEK. I'm going to make a backing sheet of aluminum, as the stress of the padding on the dash causes the plastic to crack.
