My 93 Breakaway has a vacuum generator. One of the ports, the one that leads to the hvac controls has been blocked off. A PO installed an electric vacuum pump in the generator compartment to operate the hvac controls. Does the vacuum generator serve any other purpose? My cruise control works just fine.

I have two vacuum generators. The one up front for the controls and one in the engine compartment for the cruise.

BTW if you decide to throw the front one away, throw it my way.

Are vacuum generators suppose to put out a large volume of air? Mine puts out very little air. Also, I get no air from the blower through the dash vents. All the air goes to the the defroster on the windshield no matter which button I push. Is this because of the small vuacuum generator I have up front?

No, the vacuum generator pulls air out of the system and it operates through tubing to a softball or box shaped plastic canister. That device is held below ambient atmospheric pressure to provide a reservoir that activates the system. When you activate one of the push pull buttons on the climate control it connects the vacuum through the canister and tubing to the vacuum motor on the a/c plenum(behind the dash near the heater core). This vacuum pulls the motor arm that closes or opens the butterfly valve that directs the blower air to one of several hoses - floor; defroster; dash or combinations. The most common failures are the tubing breaks off the vacuum motors or the dash control has a leak that prevents the vacuum from being pulled on the various motors. I suspect you have a dislodged tube in the back of the climate control or the rubber tube in the generator compartment has broken. If you have a gauge on the dash you can check that also as it is connected to the canister and can split. If it reads vacuum then the problem is between the climate control and the motors, or the motors themselves.
