Headlight switch
I have no lights except brake and turn signals, so I'm thinking check at the switch first. It's the regular old pull switch, with a chrome ring and a slotted middle and the stem comes out the middle. How do I get it apart? Does the handle come off if I pull hard enough? Does the chrome ring snap off to reveal a nut? There doesn't appear to be a fuse on the panel for lights, but there must be one somewhere. Any ideas?

There might be a button on the switch body that you been to push to release the knob and stem

Terry, you are correct. Welcome to the Barth site! cheers

I believe your coach has the old GM style switch. They have a thermal circuit breaker that cycles when the load is too high (or if the switch is shot, with a normal load).

As I recall the switch knob and shaft must be removed, then the bezel can be unscrewed and the switch will come out.

To remove the knob and shaft, pull the lights on, then you have to push a small release button on the side of the switch. While holding the release button down, pull the knob and shaft all the way out.

(Note that this will leave your lights on. Once the switch is out you can reinsert the shaft, unplug the switch, or just disconnect your engine battery cable to begin with.)

The shaft will push back in when you get the new switch installed. good luck

Here's another thread, Nick labelled the wires

You might want to check the dimmer switch if you have the old floor mounted style. The wire from the switch goes there, then to the lights (IIRC) If the switch is stuck or wires bad, you'll lose all headlights.

Keep us posted, there are 86 wiring diagrams here on the site that may help. I'll get mine out to help if needed.
