I've pulled the front struts out and they're gonzo. Munro 34817's. Can anyone save me a little time and recommend a strut of the correct weight rating? The websites don't seem to list this info and before I get too deeply into it if someone has "been there done that" and could save me some time I would very much appreciate it. I came across a 2009 thread (Thanks John C.) in which a similar Barth to mine was weighed and the results make me apprehensive of just throwing the stock spec ones back on. following is a copy/paste of that post: Got back from the scale. 1/2 tank of fuel in each tank, no water, no waste, no gear, and no food. Just me and the coach. Front = 4760lbs Rear = 5160lbs 1975 23' 454 Here is a link to Rockauto page with their various options: https://www.rockauto.com/en/ca...,shock+absorber,7556 Further if anyone has the spec for measuring the spring length to see if I need to replace them as well that would be helpful. That has some good stuff on fuel system problems and vapor lock issues. Since you are in the position to replace you can also upgrade. The fuel system in my Regal was the source of numerous problems until I installed good filters, pumps, etc. good luck 9708-M0037-37MM-01 "98" Monarch 37 Spartan MM, 6 spd Allison Cummins 8.3 325+ hp

Geez Nose is an 81, P30, it has only shocks and spring suspension in front. Timothy I have 16 inch tires, do you have 19 inch? Oh got to thinking you may be calling your shocks, struts, Canada English. So shocks do not do much loading carrying, the newer style gas units carry a bit of load, or you can put on air shocks, to lift you front end a bit if you like and carry load. Shocks to fit your P30 are measured by contracted and extended length, so you have a ton of choices. Newer style gas shocks might be what you seek, just pick the correct lengths. Same for the steering damper, if you buy it as a damper they like to charge you like triple, but here you probably want a hydraulic fluid shock. I bet your front spring air bags are shot too, mine were look in the front springs for remnants. When I replaced my air bags the handling and ride improved a lot. I did not do springs. Benebob did a lot of work finding rear springs for his P30 I will see if I can find that thread or just search his posts. 1971 24 ft Barth Continental P30 chassis 350 engine

Sorry I was using the incorrect wording. My original post was referring to the damper. I am now on to ball joints and am further confused. When looking at parts they say 11000 GVR or 14000 GVR, the gvr for mine is 12880. If I purchase the 14000s will they fit?

I have not replaced my ball joints, however if you do not have the 14000# ball joints now there is a difference to the 11000# joints, with your GVW I believe you need the 14000# GM would not use less than GVW. The worse that can happen is you have to get the other and return them, not a big deal at Rockauto. They are cheap buy them both return the one you do not use... Timothy please do not take me seriously, I was teasing about you being a Canadian and having your own language , if I was out of line please accept my apology. Those of us from Minnesnowta are much worse!!! 1971 24 ft Barth Continental P30 chassis 350 engine

I can't return stuff to Rockauto, the shipping eats up the return. I actually think for the time being most of my joints are good but the cracked boots will make quick work of them when I begin to drive it. Nevertheless I think I'll wait for that. I thought the Canadian comment was pretty funny.

I have heard some folks cut an old inner tube in a strip a bit wider than the tear, wrap it around the old boot and tie it off with zip ties, for extra security a few slits near the edges of the repair material may help hold the ties in place. Never tried it my self, cheap might work. 1971 24 ft Barth Continental P30 chassis 350 engine
